Then, something wild happened: I hit a plateau…


My weight gain slowed (and eventually stopped), right around the time that I stopped killing myself in the gym and starving myself with a calorie-restrictive diet. I eased back, and my body thanked me for the break.


Exactly one year (to the week!) after my last show of 2018, I stepped on the scale and saw that my measurements had gone down. “That’s weird,” I thought to myself. “It must be a fluke.” Then, the week after that, the scale had dropped even further!

What did I Learn from gaining 50lbs in 52 weeks?!


I learned and developed new feelings of empathy for my clients, especially people who have similar stories to my own, and just want to reach their goals...


 Also, that when you’ve pushed your body to its furthest limits and feel like you’ve tried everything, but you’re still not seeing results…

You MUST keep going, you must keep trying... there are still steps you can take to reach your goals -- and some of them might not be at all what you expected!

I started out as a Group Fitness instructor when I was in my early twenties and then later realized that there was a need for more when it comes to maintaining a healthy body. I remember what it was like when I just got started, which is why I love being there for women today to guide them through the process.


My journey into fitness started after having lung surgery. There were several complications during my surgery, leaving me feeling weak and tired most of the time. A hospital stay of 7 weeks took its toll on my body. I did not recognize the person I have become.


This was when I decided to go against all odds and train for a 5k fun run. I loved the process and that was when I started training to teach Group Fitness. Hi, my name is Janea Zavala!! I am beyond excited to be helping you with your fitness goals and self confidence. I just turned 40 years old, I’m a mom to 5 awesome kiddos and I’m also an IFBB Bikini Pro.

I was a dancer and cheerleader a lot of my life. I cheered for Oregon State University before I started my journey as a mom. I’ve always struggled with building muscle. I have also struggled with weight fluctuations of up to 100lbs through my 20’s. It wasn’t until I started CrossFit in 2014 where I started to have a bit more confidence with weight training.


In 2016 I decided to make the switch to bodybuilding and bikini competitions and I haven’t looked back!! Competing has given me the confidence in myself that I always dreamed of. I know that I can do anything I put my mind to and I am passionate about instilling that in other women as well as my children! Consistency is key and I’m a firm believer in hard work.
